What support do Sheffield’s social enterprises need to grow?

In 2023, Sheffield Social Enterprise Network have set themselves a challenge to improve their membership and network offer. The intended outcome of this is to strengthen the sector whilst also making the organisation more sustainable. They commissioned Growing Circles to undertake a series of customer insight conversations to better understand the pain points and desired outcomes for the sector.

Working together, we identified stakeholders and then spoke to over 20 people working in the sector locally from strategic partners, sector supporters and social entrepreneurs at various stages of their leadership journey.

This insight work directly supported our bid to secure a new contract from Sheffield City Council to provide business support to Social Enterprises in the city in partnership with Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry and South Yorkshire Community Foundation. Exciting times!
